Start with the purpose of the material
Ordinary insect mesh focuses on screening and airflow. Solar fabric adds a sunlight-management purpose. Heavier-duty options may suit frequent contact or pets.
The published operator range includes bug screening, TuffScreen, PetScreen, and SunTex 80/90. These choices should be compared as different purposes rather than one universal quality ranking.
If the requirement is protective performance, make it explicit. Ordinary mesh is not a child-fall guard, pet restraint, or rated security system.
Compare daylight and outward view
View the sample at the actual window and look through the glass from inside. Room lighting and the surroundings affect the impression.
The published SunTex data lists approximate openness of 25% for SunTex 80 and 10% for SunTex 90. Openness is not a cooling-bill saving or a guarantee of privacy.
Discuss the time of harsh sunlight and the way the room is used. Different rooms may justify different fabric choices.
| Material question | Useful comparison |
|---|---|
| Insect control | Suitable mesh, intact fabric and fit |
| Sunlight | Actual fabric data and exposure |
| Daylight and view | Physical sample at the opening |
| Durability | Household contact and compatible frame |
| Privacy | Lighting on both sides, including after dark |
Mesh color and the final frame
The existing SunTex samples show beige, black, brown, dark bronze, grey, and stucco. The frame finish is a separate choice, with availability confirmed for the product.
A phone photograph is not an exact color match. Compare the sample, trim, and frame before fabrication.
If the property requires approval for an exterior change, obtain it before final ordering. The installer’s material discussion does not replace that requirement.
From sample to fitted panel
Final dimensions depend on the frame construction, mounting, shape, and clearance. Rough measurements can start an estimate but should not be treated as final sizes.
Agree on removal, cleaning access, and refitting. A panel that looks good but is awkward to maintain can create avoidable future work.
The product guide is the next step for the actual fabric range and installation questions. Compare the complete assembly, not just a material label.
Apply it to your opening.
Compare fabric data, samples, and a fitted frame for the product choices, fit, materials, and assessment relevant to this topic.

Questions before you decide.
Is the densest fabric always best?
No. Compare shading with light, view, airflow and the actual opening.
Does a material name establish safety protection?
No. A protective purpose needs an appropriate product and evidence.
Are the sample names frame finishes?
Mesh color and frame finish are separate selections.
